Rye house!

After borrowing Skooterfarm Dave's Rotax at scunny i decided i wanted a pop at flat tracking. I managed to get my hands on Captain Highside's old KTM Rotax 600 which is up to a damn good spec! A bit of a jump from a c90!
Saturday i hit Rye House practice and got really comfortable on the bike after a few very minor adjustments and low sides. The only downfall to the 10 min practice slots was i didn't know when to stop, so that resulted in boiling the brake. You can come on and off when you like in the practice but i got a bit carried away.
Sunday came round and i was trying not to think about racing until the last minute, hard to do i know but it kept the nerves at bay. I entered the novice class which i went on to win and also entered the thunderbike class where i came 9th.
After a bit of a pile up on the first bend of the thunderbike A final the race got restarted, quite a sobering moment when your legs are above your head and your helmet is sliding across the gravel.

Rusty Nail Does Flat Track #31

We turned up at Scunny yesterday early to give a helping hand if needed, when Dave (skooterfarm) asked me if i fancied racing his 600 rotax, obviously i said yes!
We had spoke a little about practicing etc last month when we were both marshalling at Buxton, but i never thought i'd actually ride one of these monsters!
Everyone was awesome in telling me how to go on, Gary from sideburnmag even walked me through the track.
So there i was in leathers ready to do the pre-heats practice, i then found out that the novices(me) were out with the restricted class. This is about the time i considered browning myself.
Anyhow all was good and i got a good feel for the bike, put all the tips i had gathered into practice and lived the dream. The grid positions couldn't have landed any better. First race i started 11th on the grid, 2nd race 8th on the grid and 3rd race 1st on the grid.

Here's some pics i gathered from various sources. I'm #31

Massive thank you to Dave Arnold for giving me the opportunity to have the experience and giving me the flattrack bug. Also thanks to everyone for the tips and hospitality.
I'm now having a garage clearout to raise funds for this fast approaching addiction.
